Westerly pop-up exhibit features an eclectic mix of local photographers by Nancy Burns-Fusaro Westerly Sun
A group show of the work of selected local photographers opens Friday, December 11, from 6-9 p.m. at Above Elite Studios, 181 Main Street, Westerly, Rhode Island.
Westerly photographer Maria Scaglione has invited a group of the region’s photographers to display their work with her in a space located next to her rented studio in downtown Westerly. She has named the show “A Mix of Eclectic Local and Regional Photographers”.
The public is invited to the opening. Refreshments will be provided.
The exhibit continues until Thursday, January 28, 2016. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 3-7 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Or call Scaglione at 860-857-9673 to arrange an appointment.
Westerly photographer Maria Scaglione is an award-winning artist and distinguished grant recipient. She meets her clients and displays her work in a studio space in downtown Westerly, at Above Elite Studios.
In the past few months, she has invited a group of fellow artists to meet to share and critique their current photographic work. Scaglione thought that it would be wonderful to organize an exhibit of this group of photographers. Scaglione expects that the exhibit will be a fascinating mixture of portraiture and landscape.Scaglione has invited these artists to exhibit their work:
Christine Corrigan, David Culton, Larry Davidson, Millie Donovan, Ardie Harrison, Russell Norton, Edward Santos, Maria Scaglione, Anna Sullivan, Amanda Tedeschi and Noelle Wolcin.
Scaglione will be showing two series of her photographs from the past three years, entitled “Interior Explorations” and “Tides In, Tides Out”.
This exhibit will move to the Hoxie Gallery at the Westerly Public Library, 44 Broad Street, Westerly. The opening reception will be Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 5-8 p.m.The Hoxie Gallery hours are Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Telephone 401-596-2877 for more information.
